The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government through a statement released by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, on Tuesday.
In extending warm wishes and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan, the Minister encouraged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice that were particularly emphasized during this sacred period.
He also urged all Nigerians to utilize the festive occasion to pray for ongoing peace, unity, and prosperity for the nation.
Furthermore, the Minister encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and to extend acts of kindness to those in need within the community.
He reassured that the federal government remains dedicated to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
