The federal government has revised the charges brought against former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, removing the initial allegations related to terrorism financing.
During a court appearance on Wednesday, the legal representative for the Department of State Services (DSS), Akinlolu Kehinde, informed the court about the amended charge and requested to substitute the previous one.
"The amended charge pertains to illegal possession of firearms," Kehinde stated.
Shaibu Aruwa, the legal counsel for the defendants, acknowledged receiving the amended charge and did not object to it being read out in court.
"I confirm that my clients have received the amended charge, and we do not object to the new charge being presented to the defendants," Aruwa said.
With the consent of both parties, the revised charge was read in open court to Abubakar Malami and Abdulaziz Malami, who subsequently entered a plea of not guilty.
The case has been adjourned, with further proceedings scheduled to continue at a later date.
