The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to bolstering livestock development, considering it a crucial factor for economic advancement and overall progress in the region.
This declaration was made during a weekend meeting with Mukhtar Idi Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development, who was visiting the state for official purposes.
Fintiri was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Auwal Tukur. He confirmed that the state government is firm in its support for federal initiatives designed to enhance the livestock value chain.
He stated that the livestock sector is a significant resource that needs to be effectively exploited to foster economic growth and elevate the standards of living.
The Minister of Livestock Development indicated that his visit served a dual purpose as both a courtesy call and a standard consultation with the livestock community in Adamawa State, particularly in light of the forthcoming enforcement of the national ranching policy.
According to Maiha, these consultations are vital for evaluating the condition of grazing reserves in the state and ensuring readiness for the implementation of the national ranching policy.
He noted that Adamawa is among the states with the largest grazing reserves nationwide and possesses significant livestock resources. If managed properly, these resources could greatly enhance national development.
