Ali Garba Tikau, a former governorship aspirant from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, has announced his transition to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Tikau previously represented the PDP as its governorship candidate in the elections of 2011 and 2023 before opting to join the ADC.
The announcement of his defection took place at his electoral ward located in Tikau.
While addressing supporters and ADC members, Tikau emphasized his dedication to the new party and noted that the decision was made collaboratively with his supporters.
"After serving the PDP peacefully for many years, we have chosen to align with the ADC for the broader progress of our community," he stated.
He further expressed determination to exert maximum effort towards ensuring the ADC's success in the upcoming 2027 electoral process at all levels.
As part of the formalities, he relinquished his PDP membership card to the chairman of the Tikau Ward branch of the PDP, Samaila Jalamawa.
In welcoming Tikau, Babangida Dagare, the chairman of the ADC in Tikau Ward, affirmed the party's commitment to inclusive governance and the shared goal of achieving victory in the 2027 general elections.
