A tragic event unfolded at a daycare centre in Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala, Uganda, when a man armed with a knife fatally stabbed four children. The perpetrator, identified as Christopher Okello, entered the Ggaba Early Childhood Day school on Thursday, April 2, 2026, by pretending to be a parent. He then proceeded to attack children aged approximately two and three years old with a knife, according to police reports.

Police spokeswoman Racheal Kawala confirmed the devastating incident, stating, "We confirm a tragic incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school in Makindye Division, Kampala City, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and k!lled four juveniles.”

Authorities reported that the suspect fatally stabbed three boys and a girl among the 14 children who were present at the facility at the time of the attack.

"The suspect had visited the nursery last week to seek admission for a child, paid the fees and was told to return this week," Kawala added.

Upon attempting to flee, an enraged mob of residents tried to apprehend the man, but security forces intervened by using tear gas to disperse the crowd and successfully arresting the suspect.

"Ten children survived the attack and are already with their parents,” Kawala stated.

The motive behind this horrific act remains unclear, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Grieving parents and relatives gathered at the scene of the incident, expressing their sorrow and devastation.
