Iran Accused of Drone and Missile Attacks on Kuwait's Key Infrastructure

Multiple drone and missile assaults, which Iran is suspected of orchestrating, have targeted critical infrastructure across Kuwait. These attacks have hit oil facilities, power generation sites, and government offices, leading to fires, damage, and heightened security alerts in the region.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that an oil sector complex in Shuwaikh, Kuwait City, experienced a fire resulting from a drone attack. The affected site hosts both the oil ministry and the corporation's main offices. Firefighting units were quickly dispatched to manage the blaze, and officials have stated that no injuries were reported.

According to state media, another government office complex connected to the Ministry of Finance was also hit by a drone, causing substantial property damage but no injuries.

Kuwait's military announced that its air defence systems successfully intercepted numerous missiles and drones in the country's airspace. Residents reported hearing explosions in various parts of the capital during these interception efforts.

The Kuwaiti Army's General Staff, in a statement released via the state news agency KUNA, indicated that hostile aerial attacks were neutralized. The military advised citizens to follow official safety guidelines and also revealed that similar attacks were thwarted the night before.

These recent assaults are part of a continuing pattern of attacks directed at strategic locations within Kuwait. On the preceding Friday, drone attacks struck the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, a major refining facility, resulting in fires affecting several operational units.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy reported that two power generation and water desalination plants were targeted, sustaining considerable damage but without any reported casualties.

The series of attacks highlights the increasing instability in the Gulf region, with nations facing persistent drone and missile threats amidst an ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
