The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that a total of 39 individuals were involved in a major vehicle collision on Monday along the Kugbo Furniture Market stretch of the AYA–Nyanya route situated in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Mrs. Felicia Kalu, the Acting Corps Public Education Officer (ACPEO), provided details about the incident.
According to Kalu, the accident took place at approximately 4:48 PM and included six vehicles, which comprised two tipper trucks, a commercial bus, and several private cars.
The FRSC rescue team from the Zebra 12 Unit promptly responded to the situation, arriving at the scene within four minutes of receiving the emergency call and initiate life-saving measures.
During a coordinated effort to assist victims, officers successfully rescued a trapped individual from one of the severely damaged tipper trucks, administering first aid before transporting him to the National Hospital for additional medical care, Kalu stated.
Of the 39 people involved, two male victims were reported to have sustained injuries that varied from bruises to fractures, one of whom was given immediate first aid on-site.
Kalu highlighted the diligent efforts of FRSC personnel to stabilize the situation, avert additional injuries, and ensure the safety of other motorists on the road. (NAN)
