The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the international community to bolster its support for science and invest more in healthcare infrastructure.
In a statement released on Tuesday in observance of World Health Day, the First Lady highlighted the necessity of "continuing to support science, investing in health systems, and working collaboratively to establish a healthier and more resilient global landscape for all."
Mrs. Tinubu articulated her perspective, stating:
“Today, on World Health Day 2026, the theme ‘Together for Health. Stand with Science,’ serves as a powerful reminder that advancements in health are contingent upon innovation and strong cooperation among nations and various sectors. Scientific collaborations have been instrumental in enabling humanity to overcome numerous health challenges and continue to guide us toward healthier lifestyles.
“This year’s campaign also underscores the critical significance of the One Health approach, acknowledging the profound interconnectedness between the well-being of humans, animals, plants, and our environment.
“As we commemorate this significant occasion as a global community, let us collectively commit to supporting science, investing in our health systems, and collaborating to build a healthier and more resilient world for everyone.
