Ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has suggested that Michael Carrick could be dismissed as manager of Manchester United if the team fails to secure a victory against Aston Villa on Sunday. The United side currently sits in relegation places in the Premier League following Nottingham Forest's 3-1 win over Manchester City earlier in the week.
Reports indicate that senior officials at Old Trafford have already spoken with alternative coaches, including Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte, and Julian Nagelsmann, raising further speculation about potential managerial changes.
Gerrard told TNT Sports: 'If you lose that on the back of not winning in nine matches in the league, I think it could be tough for him.'
The former England midfielder believes that a poor run of form combined with a loss against Villa would leave United's management with little choice but to take drastic action.
