The Ghana Police Service, through its Criminal Investigation Department, has taken a media figure into custody after he was seen in a widely circulated video physically attacking a woman reported to be his girlfriend.
The individual in question, Christford Affadu Danful, who is also known as Ekow Black, was detained on Thursday, January 15, 2026, during a covert operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team, which was prompted by the video's dissemination on social media platforms.
This video caused a significant backlash online, revealing a woman being assaulted in an apparent act of domestic violence, which many viewers condemned.
Initial inquiries suggest that the accused, along with the woman who was previously his cohabitant, had a pattern of disputes that appeared to escalate into both verbal and physical confrontations.
Currently, Danful is being held in custody and is anticipated to be formally charged in a court of law as per legal protocols.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its pledge to ensure public safety, reinforce legal standards, and address any acts of violence with appropriate seriousness.
