The Federal Government has officially started a verification exercise in Gombe State to settle the entitlements of public servants who were disengaged in the 2006-2007 public service reforms.
Mr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), announced this initiative while overseeing the verification team in Gombe.
The team includes officials from several federal offices, such as the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Accountant-General of the Federation, along with representatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, among others.
Arabi noted that the purpose of this visit is to identify and verify the officers whose positions were eliminated during the reforms but who have yet to receive their full payments.
"Unfortunately, for many years, these individuals have not received their entitlements, leaving many affected officers without compensation," he lamented.
He recalled that a similar verification process was conducted two years ago for staff members of the Nigeria Immigration Service, all of whom have since received their payments in full.
Arabi further elaborated that the current verification focuses on the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), marking it as the final phase for the affected agencies.
He asserted that nearly 99.9 percent of eligible beneficiaries across the country have already received their payments.
