The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has formed a committee with the responsibility of implementing the White Paper Report that assesses grazing reserves, forest reserves, game reserves, and cattle routes in the region.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, disclosed the governor’s endorsement of the initiative, noting that the committee consists of representatives from essential security agencies, relevant ministries and departments, traditional bodies, as well as associations of farmers and herders, along with technical and regulatory institutions.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Director General of Press Affairs, Ismail Uba Misilli, revealed that AIG Babaji Sunday (Retd) has been appointed to lead the committee as its Chairman.
According to the announcement, the committee will include members such as Yusuf Madi, Director of Livestock; Suleiman Musa Kumo, Director of Forestry; the Commissioner of Police in Gombe State; the State Director of Security; the Commandant of the 301 Field Artillery Regiment, Gombe; the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); and the Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, representing the Council of Emirs and Chiefs.
Furthermore, the statement indicated that the Permanent Secretary for General Duties in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Muazu Shehu, will act as the Secretary of this Committee.
