Gospel singer Kehinde Adegbodu has reported a harrowing armed robbery incident that targeted his family home, occurring just days after the funeral of his twin brother, Taiwo Adegbodu.
The late Taiwo Adegbodu, who was one half of the popular Adegbodu Twins, passed away on March 1, 2026, from heart complications. His interment took place in Ibadan on March 31, 2026, following memorial services on March 30 and 31. He was 46 years old.
Tragically, less than two weeks after his brother's burial, the family home was subjected to a violent robbery. In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, Mr. Adegbodu recounted that the break-in happened while he was away in Osogbo, Osun State, leaving his late brother’s wife and children vulnerable to the assailants.
According to Mr. Adegbodu, the robbers, who reportedly stayed for approximately 45 minutes, made off with cash, clothing, and other personal items. He believes the attackers were motivated by the belief that proceeds from his brother's burial donations were still in the family's possession.
He stated that the perpetrators repeatedly inquired about his whereabouts and demanded access to his late brother's room and personal effects. "They said they came because of me," Mr. Adegbodu shared, recounting how the robbers asked for his brother's room where he died and any jewellery or phone. He added that one of the robbers apparently contacted a superior during the operation to report his absence.
The singer suggested the attack was linked to the financial support received for his brother's funeral, particularly mentioning funds raised by fellow gospel artist Yinka Ayefele. He posited that the robbers assumed the donations were still on hand.
"I think the robbers thought that the money raised for us was still with me. They don’t even care that we are mourning," he remarked.
Clarifying the situation, Mr. Adegbodu explained that the funds had already been utilized for the burial arrangements and an ongoing construction project intended to facilitate his brother’s internment. He also expressed his readiness to publicise his financial records to counter the presumption of holding substantial cash.
The ordeal has left the children in the household traumatised and filled with fear. "Since the incident, our kids have been living in fear. They are scared to sleep in the house," he stated, pleading with the offenders to desist from further actions against the family.
Mr. Adegbodu appealed to the public for understanding during this period of mourning, emphasizing that the robbery has exacerbated their grief. "We are still grieving. People should please understand and allow us to heal," he urged.
