On Friday, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, together with Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and prominent statesman Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, convened a key meeting at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Abuja. This meeting aimed to address the alarming rise in insurgent activities and violent attacks in parts of the North-East region.
During the discussions, the delegation engaged Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, concentrating on escalating security concerns that have been troubling communities in both Adamawa and Taraba states, especially in regions recently impacted by assaults attributed to the Boko Haram insurgent group.
Held at the Defence Ministry headquarters, the talks highlighted the recent security violations reported across numerous local government areas within the two states. The participants expressed significant worries regarding the safety of residents and property, underlining the necessity for a stronger military presence and better coordination of intelligence activities to combat the growing threats.
Governor Fintiri, speaking at the meeting, stressed the urgent need for enhanced cooperation between federal and state administrations to effectively address insecurity in the region. He pointed out that border communities in Adamawa have faced renewed threats, making it vital for security forces to elevate their operations and ensure sufficient protection for the inhabitants.
