Gwale LGA Clinches N5 Million Cash Prize at Kano Football Tournament

Gwale Local Government Area has emerged as the champion of a community football competition in Kano State, securing a N5 million cash prize. The tournament, organized by the Steron Community Development Foundation, aimed to foster youth development and talent discovery.

The Gwale Local Government Authority in Kano State has been awarded a N5 million cash prize for winning the recent football tournament organized by the Steron Community Development Foundation. Following Gwale LGA's victory, Nassarawa LGA secured the first runner-up position, receiving N2 million, while Dala LGA finished third and was awarded N1 million.

Participating teams in the competition were also given a grant of N200,000 each. In total, the grassroots football event saw N8.2 million distributed among the participating teams.

The tournament featured 16 teams representing 15 Local Government Areas within the Kano Central Senatorial District. Its objectives included promoting youth development, identifying talent, and encouraging community engagement.

Organizers stated that the competition was designed to offer young athletes a platform to display their abilities, foster unity, and promote peaceful coexistence among different communities.

Representatives from the Steron Community Development Foundation highlighted the crucial role of sports in engaging youth, promoting economic inclusion, and driving social development. They emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between government bodies, the private sector, and development partners to broaden the reach of grassroots sports initiatives across Nigeria.

Furthermore, the foundation encouraged young footballers to leverage its talent discovery program by showcasing their skills on social media platforms, thereby increasing their chances of being mentored or scouted.

The event was attended by various stakeholders in the sports sector, including football administrators, coaches, players, and community leaders, who engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening sports development at the local level.
