Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially clinched her third Guinness World Records (GWR) title after receiving unexpected recognition for the largest serving of rice, adding to her previously achieved milestone for jollof rice.
The acknowledgment came following a review of Baci’s record attempt in collaboration with the food brand Gino in Lagos, Nigeria. This significant feat was accomplished on September 12, 2025, in Victoria Island, where Baci and the Gino team prepared an impressive 8,780 kilograms of rice. Although they initially aimed to break the record for the largest serving of Nigerian- style jollof rice, Guinness later confirmed that this effort also qualified for the record of the largest rice serving overall.
Baci shared the exciting news on January 20, 2026, by posting a screenshot of the email she received from Guinness World Records. The message, from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at the Records Creative Team, read:
“Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing (again)!
Hello Hilda,
I hope you’re well!
It has come to our attention while comparing record titles that when you and your team attempted and succeeded in the "Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice,” you also achieved the record title of
“Largest serving of rice” - so you have been awarded this record title too.
Many congratulations on behalf of Guinness World Records, you are Officially Amazing (again)!
Best wishes,
Drew
Andrew Fanning
Head of Client Partnering – Records Creative Team.”
According to Guinness World Records, the specifics of the achievement state:
“The largest serving of rice is 8,780 kg (19,356 lb, 9 oz) and was accomplished by Hilda Baci and Gino (all Nigeria), in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, on September 12, 2025.”
In response to the announcement, Baci described the experience as shocking and emotional, noting that she only became aware of the additional record months after the initial one was disclosed. In her post, she wrote:
“Woke up as a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still in disbelief.
What an incredible way to begin 2026.
That morning, I was just going through my usual routine, casually browsing my emails when I received the notification. I was completely taken by surprise, feeling both shocked and elated. Five months after the original record was announced, I was just learning that there was more.”
She explained that what she had thought was a single record ended up being two on the same day. When I and @ginonaija broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I believed that was all. What I didn’t realize, until now, was that we also set the record for the largest serving of rice overall that same day. Therefore, what I assumed to be one record turned out to be two—and now, officially, that results in three Guinness World Records in total.
Baci gave credit to her team and business partner for the achievement, stating: “The very first person I called was @oreoluwa_atinmo. This journey, this vision, and this record would not have been possible without her. We accomplished this together. From the initial idea to execution, we were in complete alignment.”
Reflecting on her journey, she expressed “Honestly, God is faithful. The sort of faithfulness that continues to astonish. This serves as a beautiful reminder that even when you believe you’ve experienced everything, God can still reveal, ‘There’s more.’ What a wonderful blessing, and what an extraordinary way to welcome this new year.”
Baci first entered the Guinness World Records in May 2023 by completing the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Her second record was established in September 2025 for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, and now the latest confirmation elevates her to a three-time record holder.
