A tragic incident involving an improvised explosive device (IED) took place along the Kudodo–Kampani Community Road in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, leading to the loss of two lives and injuries to another.

The explosion occurred on February 7 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Three individuals—40-year-old Haruna, 36-year-old Ishayaku, and 35-year-old Sunday Joshua—were riding a motorcycle when they accidentally detonated the device.

Emergency response to the IED explosion in Niger State

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, both Haruna and Ishayaku died instantly in the blast, while Sunday Joshua sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to Shekwoiyha Divine Primary Health Care Center in Erena for medical attention.

Authorities, including the police, responded promptly to the scene, and the case has been handed over to the Bomb Disposal Unit for thorough investigation and necessary follow-up actions.
