U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar has publicly rebuked President Donald Trump in light of his recent remarks regarding Somali immigrants during a television appearance, intensifying the ongoing feud between them.
During an interview on Fox Business aired on Tuesday night, Trump asserted that Somali immigrants were detrimental to the state of Minnesota and labelled Omar a “fake congresswoman.” He did not clarify his statement.
In retaliation, Omar, who emigrated from Somalia to the United States at the age of 12, expressed her discontent via a post on the social media platform X.
She stated, “The leader of the P3dophile Protection Party is trying to deflect attention from his name being all over the Epstein files. At least in Somalia they execute p3dophiles not elect them,” addressing her over 2.7 million followers.
Her remarks hinted at the public's ongoing concerns regarding Trump’s past connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Although Trump's name has surfaced in various documents relating to Epstein, he has consistently denied any involvement and claimed to have severed ties with Epstein years ago. The White House has yet to make a formal statement regarding Omar’s comments.
This interaction is just the latest in a series of confrontations that have transpired between the congresswoman from Minnesota and the president, as both have frequently critiqued each other on issues such as immigration, foreign policies, and domestic affairs.
