An Iranian military strike targeted a power installation in Kuwait, leading to the death of one Indian national and causing extensive damage, as reported by officials in the Gulf nation.
Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, a spokesperson for the Kuwait electricity ministry, verified the details of the incident.
"The attack struck a service building at a power and water desalination facility, constituting part of Iran's aggression against Kuwait, which resulted in the fatality of one Indian worker alongside significant material damage to the structure," she stated. This event indicates a further escalation in the regional tensions associated with the ongoing disputes involving Iran.
In a related development, Israeli lawmakers have passed their national budget for 2026, which features a notable increase in defence expenditures amidst ongoing military engagements.
The Knesset approved the budget with 62 votes in support and 55 against, narrowly averting a governmental collapse that would have occurred if the budget had not been ratified by the end of March. It is estimated that total spending for 2026 will reach approximately 850 billion shekels (around $270 billion), which incorporates an additional 30 billion shekels earmarked for defence.
The budget update reflects the implications of Operation 'Roaring Lion', with over NIS 30 billion (around $10 billion) added to the Ministry of Defence's allocation, raising the total to over NIS 142 billion. These occurrences illustrate the growing instability across the region, with simultaneous military escalations and economic implications unfolding.
