Mojtaba Khamenei, the recently appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, has reportedly been injured following escalating hostilities in the Middle East, as stated by Iranian state media.
At 56 years old, Khamenei took over leadership from his father, Ali Khamenei, who passed away due to a significant militant strike in Tehran. Iranian television referred to him as a "janbaz," a Persian expression meaning a person who is harmed in battle against the enemy.
Official state broadcasters reported that the injury took place during what has been termed the "Ramadan war," which encompasses the current military engagements involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. However, specific details regarding the timing and location of the injury have not been disclosed, nor has the severity of his condition been specified.
In the meantime, violence is escalating across the region. Bahrain has reported 32 injuries from a drone strike in Sitra, and Iran has issued warnings of potential attacks on regional energy facilities in retaliation for strikes carried out by Israel. As a consequence, oil prices have surged past $100 a barrel, posing significant risks to major Gulf oil producers.
Despite his rapid ascent to power, Mojtaba Khamenei is perceived as aggressive and resolute in his intent to reinforce Iran's prominence amid the ongoing conflict.
