The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed responsibility for destroying the private plane of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Reports indicate that his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded him as Iran's supreme leader, is currently in Moscow receiving treatment for significant injuries.
On Monday morning, the IDF stated via X that the aircraft was targeted at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport. They claimed it was utilized by Khamenei and other senior regime officials for military procurement efforts and for coordinating communications with allied nations through both domestic and international flights.
The IDF emphasized that the destruction of the airplane hampers the Iranian regime's capability to coordinate with allied nations, bolster military strength, and recover from setbacks.
In addition to the developments regarding the aircraft, emerging reports suggest that Mojtaba Khamenei sustained injuries during a joint airstrike conducted by the US and Israel. Mojtaba, aged 56, took over leadership after his father's assassination on February 28, but has reportedly been in a comatose state since the incident.
According to a Kuwaiti news source, Al-Jarida, Mojtaba had to be transported to Russia for medical intervention, which was allegedly arranged directly by President Putin. It is said that the operation was discreetly conducted and involved him boarding a Russian military plane.
After arriving, he underwent a reported 'successful' surgery at one of Putin's presidential residences. While the information has not been officially verified, Al-Jarida cites a high-ranking source close to the new Supreme Leader.
Additional sources indicate that Khamenei was injured during America's Operation Epic Fury, with claims that medical treatment was not possible in Iran due to ongoing assaults from US and Israeli forces. It remains uncertain whether Mojtaba was injured in the same strikes that claimed his father's life.
A separate source relayed to The Sun via secret communication that Mojtaba is in 'very serious' condition, receiving care at Sina University Hospital in Mashhad. The source described severe injuries, indicating loss of limbs, along with internal damage to vital organs.
An anonymous individual shared concerns over Mojtaba's medical care, stating he is under the supervision of Iran's Minister of Health, who is also a leading trauma surgeon. US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, publicly acknowledged Mojtaba's injuries, asserting that the new so-called Supreme Leader is wounded and likely facing disfigurement.
