Kaduna Police Nab 41 Suspects, Liberate Seven Kidnap Victims

The Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of 41 individuals suspected of kidnapping and armed robbery. During these operations, seven individuals who had been abducted were successfully rescued, and a significant cache of firearms and ammunition was recovered.

The Kaduna State Police Command has reported apprehending 41 persons suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery. In addition to these arrests, seven abducted individuals were rescued as a result of sustained operations across the state.

During a press conference held on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, detailed the command's accomplishments for the months of March and April 2026. He stated that 24 firearms, 200 live ammunition rounds, and 50 rustled cattle were also recovered during the same period.

Commissioner Muhammad attributed these successful outcomes to intelligence- driven policing strategies, effective operational planning, and the dedication of the command's officers and personnel, under the guidance of Inspector- General of Police Olutunji Rilwan Disu.

"The command has achieved notable successes, particularly in combating kidnapping and other forms of violent crime within the period under review. We have effectively dismantled kidnapping syndicates and disrupted their operational networks throughout the state," Muhammad stated.

He highlighted the apprehension of Samaila Ilyasu, a suspected gunrunner, in Kagarko Local Government Area, where 20 locally manufactured dane guns were confiscated.

In a similar operation, police operatives apprehended two individuals, Abdullahi Suleiman and Jibril Isyaku, in Makarfi Local Government Area, based on credible intelligence regarding their kidnapping activities.

The command also arrested several informants believed to be assisting bandits with information and resources. Among those detained were Ali Usman, Haruna Abubakar, and Yusufa Audu, who allegedly provided intelligence and illicit substances to criminal groups.

Furthermore, detectives arrested two suspects, Umar Yusuf and Jibril Lawal, in connection with a culpable homicide case in Giwa Local Government Area.

In another development, two suspected arms dealers, Isah Abdullahi and Muhammad Salisu, were apprehended while transporting 200 rounds of live ammunition concealed within a bag of guinea corn.

Commissioner Muhammad also announced the arrest of a notorious drug dealer identified as Mohd Sani, known locally as Shanuna, in Rigasa. He is suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, phone snatching, and gang-related criminal activities.

Additionally, operatives, working in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, apprehended two suspects, Idris Abubakar and Ibrahim Bello, who are alleged to be part of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Kubau Local Government Area.

The police command also reported progress in tackling cattle rustling, with the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 20 stolen cows in separate operations.

Further arrests were made by Operation Fushin Kada teams, targeting individuals involved in motorcycle theft, armed robbery, and general thievery across various parts of the state.

Commissioner Muhammad confirmed that all arrested suspects will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations. He assured that efforts are ongoing to capture any remaining members of the criminal networks.

He appealed to the public to continue their cooperation with the police, emphasizing the command's unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal elements from the state.
