The government of Kano State has officially begun distributing 100,000 bags of rice, weighing 10kg each, supplied by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, aimed at aiding vulnerable and underprivileged individuals throughout the state.

This announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday in Kano by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

During the launch ceremony, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, expressed gratitude to the Dangote Foundation, describing the donation as timely and impactful.

He emphasized that this initiative would bolster the state government's humanitarian efforts to enhance the living standards of those in need.

The governor noted that this act of kindness would ensure many residents benefit from this support, especially during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Furthermore, Governor Yusuf pledged that the distribution process would adhere to transparency and accountability, utilizing community structures and relevant stakeholders to guarantee that the rice reaches its rightful recipients.

Earlier in the event, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, commended the Dangote Foundation for placing its trust in the state government.

He reiterated that having the state government oversee the distribution process would ensure the relief materials are delivered effectively to those who require assistance the most.
