Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has officially removed Engr. Buba Galadima from his role as Chairman of the Governing Council at the Kano State Polytechnic.
This decision was announced in a statement issued by the governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.
In the same announcement, it was revealed that the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Governing Council for the institution.
The statement indicated that Galadima's removal aligns with the restructuring efforts in accordance with the Kano First Agenda.
"While the tenure for the Governing Council is typically three years, the chairmanship has been terminated early in light of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing the Polytechnic's performance," the statement elaborated.
Governor Yusuf also took the opportunity to acknowledge Engr. Buba Galadima for his contributions during his term as Chairman of the Governing Council.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that the newly appointed Chairman, the Emir of Gaya, would apply his expertise and leadership to advance the Kano State Polytechnic towards improved academic and administrative standards.
Buba Galadima is recognized as a prominent supporter of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and a key figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a prior interview with Trust TV, just before Yusuf's departure to the All Progressives Congress, Galadima had urged the governor to maintain loyalty to Kwankwaso. He stated, "They understand that, apart from God, it was Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso that elevated each one of them to their positions. They wouldn’t be peaceful about it. Kwankwaso has been the backbone for all of them during their rise to power."
Galadima further emphasized the importance of Kwankwaso's influence on the political landscape in Kano, noting that all elected officials in the state, irrespective of their party affiliations, owe a debt of gratitude to the former governor.
