The Kano State Government has authorized automatic employment for medical practitioners originally from the state but currently practicing in neighboring regions.
This decision was announced by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through a statement released by the Kano State Hospitals Management Board.
The statement indicated that these qualifying doctors are encouraged to return to Kano to assume positions within secondary healthcare facilities in the state.
According to the announcement, this initiative is part of the government's efforts to bolster healthcare services in the state's secondary health institutions.
It further explained that the government has fully adopted the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) as per the Federal Government's guidelines, ensuring that returning doctors will maintain the same grade level they had with their prior employers.
In addition to the salary structure, the state administration is providing access to the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) alongside opportunities for in-house residency training across various specialties.
The specialties offered include Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with further incentives expected to be introduced in the future.
Eligible doctors are instructed to report to the headquarters of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board for documentation and onboarding processes.
