The Speaker for the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Zuru, has reportedly passed away. Mr Zuru, widely recognized as Lifiddan Zuru, is said to have died on Monday evening in Cairo, Egypt, while receiving medical care.

The announcement of his passing was made through a press statement released by Murtala Diri, an official associated with the Kebbi State House of Assembly. Mr Diri shared this statement on his official Facebook profile, attesting to its authenticity on behalf of the Assembly.

"The passing of the Speaker represents a significant loss to his constituents, the legislative institution, and the state as a whole," the statement conveyed.

Mr Zuru represented the Zuru Constituency and held the position of Speaker for the 10th Kebbi State Assembly. He was considered a prominent political figure within the Zuru Emirate.

The statement indicated that details regarding the burial arrangements and any official condolences would be communicated subsequently by the Kebbi State Government and the family of the deceased.

As of the time this report was filed, the Kebbi State Government had not issued a separate official confirmation of the Speaker's death.

However, the news has circulated extensively on social media platforms, with numerous individuals and pages sharing the statement initially published by Mr Diri.

It is anticipated that Governor Nasir Idris will issue an official message of condolence. Funeral arrangements are also expected to be announced once the late Speaker's remains are brought back from Egypt.
