Kehlani achieved a significant milestone in her career by winning her first Grammy award for Best R&B; Performance for her song "Folded" during the 2026 Grammy Awards held this evening.
In the race for this coveted award, she outperformed fellow nominees Chris Brown with "It Depends," Justin Bieber with "Yukon," Leon Thomas with "Mutt [Live from NPR’s Tiny Desk]," and Summer Walker with "Heart of a Woman."
This victory represents an important moment for Kehlani, marking her initial success at the Grammys. She went on to return to the stage shortly after to receive another Grammy for Best R&B; Song, again for "Folded."
In her acceptance speech, Kehlani expressed her astonishment at winning, stating, "I’ve never won anything before—this is a really crazy feeling." She took a moment to reflect on her ten-year journey in the music industry, mentioning, "My first Grammy nomination was 10 years ago. It’s been a really long time, and I don’t take anyone who’s been part of this journey for granted." She concluded her speech with a notable remark: "F*&k; ICE."
During the previous year's Grammy ceremony in 2025, Muni Long had been awarded Best R&B; Performance for her song “Made for Me (Live on BET),” while SZA won Best R&B; Song for “Saturn.”
