Kim Kardashian has offered an explanation regarding the removal of photos with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Instagram following Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration last November.
During an appearance on her sister Khloé Kardashian's podcast, Khloé In Wonder Land, Kim mentioned that the choice was made for very innocent reasons, and it was not influenced by any controversy.
Kim pointed out that her mother and Meghan have had a long-standing friendship. She mentioned that prior to sharing the photos from the birthday party, they had obtained permission to post them. However, once the images were uploaded, they realized that the celebration had coincided with Remembrance Day.
“They didn’t want to be seen partying and dancing on that day,” Kim stated, explaining that the photos were withdrawn out of respect for the occasion.
She added that although Prince Harry and Meghan had attended the Baby2Baby Gala earlier that evening, being seen celebrating at a private event might have seemed inappropriate considering the importance of Remembrance Day.
“So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day,” she clarified.
Reflecting on the public's reaction, Kim remarked that the whole situation was exaggerated and could have been treated with more lightheartedness. She expressed her dissatisfaction with how the incident was interpreted, labeling the subsequent backlash as unwarranted.
“It was made into something so crazy and ridiculous that it didn’t have to be,” she reflected.
In a separate social media reaction, one individual commented, “Let’s be honest here… Meghan and Harry wanted the photos removed because she looked terrible in her boxy outfit, and he looked like a drunken pervert getting his kicks off of staring at Kris Jenner’s chest.”
Kim and Kris initially shared images from the party, held at the lavish Beverly Hills home of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, which included several high-profile guests. Shortly after, however, the pictures were taken down.
