In a recent operation, the Lagos State Taskforce has seized a total of 70 commercial motorcycles. The raid took place in the Iyana-Iba region of the state as part of efforts to enforce traffic regulations.
According to a statement from the Taskforce, the action spanned multiple key locations along the Lagos-Mile2-Badagry Expressway, including Festac- Firstgate, Mazamaza, and Iyana-Iba.
During this enforcement activity, officials discovered that several commercial motorcycle operators were using restricted routes, causing disruptions to traffic. Some operators were also found to be transporting illegal substances, including drugs and flammable materials like petrol, to neighboring countries, thereby presenting a significant hazard on main roads and surrounding areas.
At the end of the operation, a total of 70 motorcycles were seized, and order was reinstated in the affected locations.
The Taskforce also emphasized that all seized motorcycles would be forfeited to the state through legal proceedings, in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law enacted in 2018.
