The police in Cross River State have detained a 35-year-old individual named Malime Ejor, who is accused of killing his girlfriend, Moshie Igu, following allegations of cheating in a community within the state.

Reports indicate that this incident took place early on Saturday, March 28, around 6 AM at a farm located in Nwang Village, within the Ekajuk community of the Ogoja local government area.

According to one eyewitness who requested anonymity, a violent dispute erupted between the couple over accusations of extramarital activities. The altercation escalated, resulting in the suspect allegedly attacking Igu, which ultimately led to her death.

The resident recounted, "We heard the loud argument and rushed to the location, but could not intervene as he was already assaulting her with a machete. We were helpless in that situation. However, local youths managed to subdue him and subsequently handed him over to law enforcement."

ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Cross River, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that an investigation is currently underway and assuring that justice will be pursued.
