Man Faces Charges Over Alleged N1.3 Million Petrol Theft in Ekiti

Saheed Rasaki, 49, has been brought before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti, accused of conspiring to steal 1,000 litres of petrol worth N1,300,000. The alleged theft took place on March 23, 2026.

Saheed Rasaki, a 49-year-old man, has been arraigned by the Ekiti State Police Command before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti in connection with an alleged theft.

During the hearing, the prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that Rasaki, alongside unidentified accomplices, conspired to steal 1,000 litres of petrol valued at N1,300,000, the property of an individual named Oso Babatunde.

The alleged crime occurred in Ado-Ekiti on the 23rd of March, 2026.

ASP Oriyomi went on to explain that Rasaki and his associates acted in a manner likely to disturb the peace by misappropriating the fuel for their personal use.

He noted that the actions of the accused are offenses punishable under Sections 421, 301, and 181(d) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The defense attorney, Barrister O.G. Abiola, requested that the court grant bail to his client, assuring the magistrate that the defendant would not abscond.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun agreed to grant bail, setting it at ₦150,000 and requiring two sureties to stand in a similar amount.

The case has been adjourned until April 23 for further hearings.
