Troops participating in Operation Hadin Kai have detained an alleged logistics supplier for Boko Haram in the Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to security sources, the arrest was a result of reliable intelligence concerning a suspect transporting materials thought to be intended for the terrorist group.
At around 6:00 p.m. on March 25, members of the 233 Tank Battalion, in conjunction with the Yobe State Hunters Group, intercepted the suspect, identified as Modu Sharif, a 23-year-old, while he was traveling from Damaturu to Kadau village near the Goniri area.
Confiscated from the suspect were 11 brake liners, four carburetors, one set of springs, 17 spark plugs, a crankshaft, three packets of oil seals, 18 cable wires, and eight clutch handles, all believed to be motorcycle spare parts.
The preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect admitted to being commissioned by Boko Haram members to distribute the aforementioned items.
Currently, the suspect remains in custody as authorities continue their efforts to apprehend additional accomplices and dismantle the supply chain enabling terrorist operations in the region.
