Military Eliminates Two Alleged Terrorists in Ondo, Seizes AK-47

Nigerian Army troops from the 32 Artillery Brigade have engaged and killed two suspected terrorists during a tactical operation in Ondo State, recovering an AK-47 rifle and various other items.

Troops from the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized two suspected armed terrorists in Ondo State. This encounter took place during a tactical operation along the Akunu–Auga route on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The operation was sparked by reliable intelligence regarding the activities of potential criminal elements in the vicinity.

Major Irabor Njoka, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 32 Artillery Brigade, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Auga acted on actionable intelligence to intercept the suspects along the Akunu–Auga stretch.

During the operation, a significant gunfight ensued, resulting in the elimination of two suspects, while others managed to flee with injuries.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, and local vigilante groups.

Among the items recovered from the site were an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a flashlight, suspected illegal drugs, charms, and cash amounting to ₦39,000, alongside other personal belongings.

Major Njoka emphasized that this operation highlights the Army's commitment to restricting the movements of criminal elements and protecting lives and property in the region.

Additionally, he stated that the brigade intends to maintain rigorous clearance and patrol operations in identified high-risk areas, encouraging community members to share timely information with security forces to bolster ongoing security efforts.
