Troops engaged in Operation Hadin Kai have successfully neutralized 16 insurgents, rescued 11 captives, and apprehended individuals believed to be involved in logistics for ISWAP in Borno State.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, made this announcement in a statement on February 10, 2026.
The operation that led to the neutralization of the 16 terrorists occurred on February 9, following a coordinated counter-offensive along the Komala axis in the Konduga Local Government Area. This action was in response to an earlier assault on a military base that took place on February 5.
The statement emphasized that the troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI displayed remarkable determination and tactical superiority by effectively countering an ISWAP attack before launching a powerful retaliatory action.
"This decisive measure has significantly impaired the capabilities of the terrorists, disrupted their supply lines, and reinforced OPHK’s steadfast dedication to dismantling terrorist networks throughout the North East region," it noted.
On February 5, 2026, at nearly midnight, ISWAP terrorists attempted an attack on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auno. However, Sector 1 troops countered this offensive with disciplined marksmanship and tactical expertise.
Building on the success from this engagement, the troops, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), initiated a bold counter-offensive along the Komala route in Konduga LGA on February 9, 2026.
As the military pursued the retreating terrorists up to the Gidan Kaji location, they effectively neutralized 16 of them, forcing numerous others to flee in panic, sustaining serious injuries in the process. The troops also recovered over 20 bicycles, a substantial cache of logistical supplies, firearms, and other materials critical for terrorist operations. In a significant blow to the terrorists’ logistics, troops apprehended suspected ISWAP logistics providers transporting a large quantity of drugs intended for terrorist activities in the Bukarti area on the same day.
Additionally, on the same day, troops thwarted an attempted kidnapping along the Buratai-Kamuya road. Upon detecting suspicious activity, they quickly pursued the terrorists, resulting in the abandonment of their captives who fled into the surrounding bushes.
Two individuals, Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, were liberated and safely returned to their families in Buratai.
Further reinforcing their commitment to public safety, troops answered a distress call along the Chibok-Damboa route on February 9, 2026, resulting in the successful rescue of nine additional kidnapping victims.
“These operations highlight OPHK’s ongoing commitment to support humanitarian efforts while safeguarding civilian lives,” the statement concluded.
