The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has extended congratulations to Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, a non- verbal autistic teenager, for earning his second Guinness World Record. This latest accomplishment sees him recognized as the youngest individual to cycle a distance of 100 miles (160.9 km).
This marks Kanyeyachukwu's second certified Guinness World Record, building on his prior distinction for the largest painting on canvas by an individual, which was presented in Abuja last year. Together, these two records establish the 16-year-old as one of Nigeria's most exceptional young achievers.
His cycling journey commenced in Enugu State on March 14 and concluded in Lagos on April 2, World Autism Awareness Day, after traversing seven states.
Minister Musawa commented, “Kanyeyachukwu’s journey crosses geography and expectation. From canvas to highway, he carries Enugu’s spirit through seven states to Lagos — stamina, imagination and quiet courage in every mile. He reminds us that the creative economy includes every voice and every way of moving through the world.”
She further pledged the Ministry’s support for national exhibitions of Kanyeyachukwu’s artwork and for youth programs that connect creativity with advocacy, including autism awareness initiatives.
The minister also acknowledged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for his commitment of ₦200 million towards autism advocacy and the Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke Foundation.
Additionally, Minister Musawa announced that the ministry would host Kanyeyachukwu in Abuja for a youth creativity forum focusing on non-verbal expression, endurance-based storytelling, and community involvement in the arts and tourism sectors.
