A suspected phone thief met a tragic end at the hands of a mob in Plateau State.

The violent incident transpired on the afternoon of March 3, 2026, in the Apata community within Jos North Local Government.

Witnessing the occurrence, Mathew Paul recounted that the suspect, presumed to be armed, allegedly snatched a phone while threatening the victim with a firearm

"The thief, a young man, took someone’s phone this afternoon and fired a shot into the air to intimidate the crowd," Paul revealed.

He further explained that community members soon noticed the suspect struggling to manage his weapon.

"A mob quickly assembled, pursued him, captured him, and set him on fire."

By the time security forces arrived at the scene, the suspect had already succumbed to his injuries.
