Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader of Iran, recently made his first public address following his appointment, which came after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who died in missile attacks attributed to Israel and Iran.

In a televised speech broadcast on Thursday, as reported by Al Jazeera, he underlined the need for national unity and reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz, currently obstructed due to ongoing hostilities, would remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Additionally, Khamenei conveyed that assaults on American installations in the region would persist as part of Iran's strategy in the conflict.

He also mentioned the participation of the Houthis from Yemen, stating that they would play a role in the warfare, indicating that the Resistance in Yemen would contribute effectively.

During his speech, Khamenei also took the time to express appreciation for Iranian forces, acknowledging their bravery in facing pressures from both the US and Israel. He stated, “I want to extend my gratitude to the valiant defenders who are performing admirably as our nation is besieged and under attack,” and assured that Iran would continue its fight against adversaries.

In related news, it has been reported that he was officially appointed as the Supreme Leader by a clerical authority after his father's passing early in the conflict, which has now extended over 13 days. Tragically, his mother, spouse, and daughter are also believed to have perished in the same missile strikes.

To date, the war has resulted in the deaths of over 1,300 Iranians. The US has confirmed the loss of eight soldiers, while at least 13 fatalities have been recorded in Israel as the conflict continues.
