NASFAT Urges Patience with Tinubu's Reforms Amidst Hardship

The Chief Missioner of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Imam Abdu- Azeez Morufu Onike, has called on Nigerians to back the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and show patience as the administration rolls out its reform agenda.

Speaking during his Eid-ul-Fitr message in Lagos, Onike cautioned against hasty judgments, encouraging citizens to adopt a more measured and constructive approach to national discussions.

"Islam advocates for balance. While we must hold leaders accountable, we should also refrain from unfounded suspicions, offer helpful advice, and support initiatives genuinely aimed at public well-being," he stated.

The religious leader recognized the significant economic challenges currently affecting Nigerians but highlighted that the federal government is making visible efforts to stabilize the economy and improve the country's security situation.

He pointed to significant policy decisions, such as discontinuing the fuel subsidy, unifying the foreign exchange market, and implementing fiscal adjustments, which he noted are already showing positive macroeconomic signs. These include an increase in government revenue and enhanced investor confidence.

Onike further emphasized the critical importance of relying on verified information, referencing a verse in the Qur’an (4:83) that warns against the dissemination of unconfirmed reports. He believes adhering to this principle will foster trust in governance and alleviate unnecessary tensions within the nation.

Citing a saying attributed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he added, "Do not speak ill of your leaders; instead, pray to Allah to guide them towards righteousness, for their righteousness contributes to your own well-being."

While advocating for patience, Onike reiterated that leaders must still be held responsible, arguing that fairness demands allowing adequate time for reforms to produce their intended outcomes.

He also urged state and local governments to ensure that the increased financial allocations from the federal government translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens, specifically through infrastructure development and poverty reduction programs.

To conclude, the NASFAT leader offered prayers for Nigeria, asking for divine guidance for the nation's leaders and for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for all its people.
