On Thursday, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced the appointment of Augustina Erah as the Director of Special Duties, an action stemming from a slight internal restructuring approved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Mrs. Erah formally took over the role from Horatius Egua, the inaugural director of the Directorate of Special Duties, during an official handover ceremony.
During the transition, Mr. Egua briefed Mrs. Erah about the organizational structure and operations within the directorate, which comprises five units with specific responsibilities aimed at bolstering the authority's strategic goals.
At the event, Chris Najomo, Director-General of Civil Aviation, mentioned that the reshuffling was part of standard administrative changes within the authority, and encouraged all personnel and directors to extend their support to the new head of the directorate.
He underscored the necessity of effective coordination in the Directorate of Special Duties, connecting it to the NCAA’s overarching regulatory responsibilities.
A citation detailing Mrs. Erah’s career background and accomplishments was presented during the ceremony, emphasizing her extensive experience in public service.
In her address, Mrs. Erah expressed gratitude to the authority's management for her appointment and emphasized that her success would rely on teamwork and collaboration with her fellow colleagues and the entire staff of the directorate.
She reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing internal processes and fulfilling the NCAA's regulatory obligations. Directors from various departments attended the ceremony, vowing their support for Mrs. Erah, while members of the Directorate of Special Duties also committed to standing behind her leadership.
