Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), expressed optimism about the completion and commissioning of the five-star Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, by December 2026. Edison Corporation, in collaboration with the Radisson Hotels Group, has assured that the facility will offer top-notch services.
During a recent visit, Ogbe addressed senior executives from Edison Corporation and Megastar Technical and Construction Company following a project management tour and workshop at the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa. He emphasized that this hospitality project is a crucial priority for the Board, indicating he would track its progress closely on a daily and weekly basis.
Ogbe noted, “This project is essential not only for the Board but also for Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and Nigeria as a whole. I believe that once the hotel opens by the end of the year, it will boost tourism in Bayelsa State, fulfilling one of my aspirations.” He further recalled that upon assuming the role of Executive Secretary in December 2024, he was determined to see this project realized.
He commended the efforts of the Edison Corporation team and the contractor, Megastar Technical and Construction Company, praising their quality of work and pace. He reminded them of the significant responsibility they carry to deliver on time.
Ogbe remarked that most critical project aspects have already been resolved, including room configurations and financial arrangements, expressing confidence that all necessary efforts will ensure uninterrupted progress.
Mr. Vivian Reddy, the CEO of Edison Corporation, shared his enthusiasm about entering into a partnership with the NCDMB, assuring that the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre would elevate the profile of Yenagoa on an international scale. Reddy expressed that any global search for 'Radisson Yenagoa' would prominently display this establishment, ultimately enhancing local tourism and visitor numbers.
He mentioned, “Our goal is to ensure we deliver a high-quality hotel, overseeing everything from the groundwork to the furnishings.” He explained that the finalization of the contract with the NCDMB was a lengthy process that involved extensive discussions and documentation over more than a year and a half.
Highlighting the importance of bringing a globally recognized brand like Radisson to Yenagoa, Reddy said, “This commitment reflects a strong confidence in the region.”
Reddy, who made significant strides as a businessman by leading a high-profile delegation from South Africa to Nigeria in 1999, praised Ogbe as a visionary leader. He expressed, “His vision will materialize, and we are excited to help make it a reality, ensuring it becomes the premier hotel in this area.”
He also lauded the professionalism and expertise of the project teams, asserting confidence in their abilities.
The NCDMB has stated that the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre is designed to meet global five-star standards and aims to serve as a pivotal site for industry events, investor meetings, and important business gatherings, thus stimulating economic activities in both Bayelsa State and the broader Niger Delta region.
