Rapper Nicki Minaj has hinted at being closer to gaining American citizenship by displaying what she called a Trump 'Gold Card'.
On Wednesday, January 28, the Trinidadian artist shared images on social media in which she is seen holding the card, stating that it was obtained at no cost. She also mentioned that she is in the midst of completing her paperwork for US citizenship. In her posts, Minaj affectionately referred to President Donald Trump as her 'wonderful, gracious, charming' leader.
The Trump Gold Card initiative was launched by President Trump in September 2025, aimed at facilitating quick residency for immigrants. Individuals seeking to benefit from this program are required to remit a $15,000 processing fee to the Department of Homeland Security and make a $1 million contribution to be eligible for accelerated residency.
It appears Minaj has sidestepped these costs. This comes on the heels of her appearance at the Trump Accounts Summit on Wednesday, where she enthusiastically declared her support for the president, positioning herself as his most ardent supporter.
The Trump Account program aims to create tax-advantaged investment accounts for US residents under 18 years old. The government has committed to provide $1,000 to every child born from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028, to help set up these accounts. Minaj has reportedly pledged donations between $150,000 and $300,000 to aid the initiative.
In recent months, the rapper has notably changed her stance to favor Trump and his policies, a shift from her previous criticisms. In 2018, she disclosed that she had entered the US as an undocumented person and spoke out against family separation policies that were in place at the time.
Earlier this week, she also made an unexpected visit to the White House, greeting auto workers while Trump observed.
