Rapper Nicki Minaj has openly shared her reasoning behind her unexpected endorsement of U.S. President Donald Trump, a decision that has sparked considerable controversy among fans and industry peers.
In a recent interview, the 43-year-old artist clarified that her political shift was not a result of pressure from Californian Governor Gavin Newsom or international events, but rather a reaction to the persistent "bullying" directed at Trump throughout his presidential campaign.
"Religious freedom holds a significant place in my beliefs," Minaj remarked when asked about her conservative leanings. "To be frank, my support for President Trump arose from witnessing how he was treated repeatedly; it was overwhelming for me."
She elaborated that the hostile criticism aimed at Trump felt incredibly personal to her.
