Nigerian Army Eliminates Terrorist, Arrests Supply Couriers in Kogi State

The Nigerian Army has announced that troops from the 12 Brigade have achieved notable success in Kogi State by neutralizing a terrorist and apprehending suspected logistics couriers.

An operational update issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday indicated that the troops, acting on reliable intelligence, ramped up checkpoint and clearance operations throughout various locations in Lokoja Local Government Area. During these efforts, soldiers stationed along the Jamata–Owara route intercepted and apprehended an individual suspected to be a logistics courier for terrorists, who was transporting supplies via motorcycle.

Upon inspecting the suspect, troops uncovered a modified fuel tank intended to hide ammunition, alongside three mobile phones and a purchase receipt. The report stated, “Further analysis of intelligence gathered from the suspect led soldiers to a potential logistics exchange point.

“During this operation, troops engaged with fleeing terrorists, leading to the neutralization of one, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

“Recovered items from the scene included a motorcycle, a pump-action shotgun belt with cartridges, various charms, drinks, a mobile phone, a backpack, and N20,000 in cash,” the report detailed.
