Nenye Uzowulu reflects on her past abuse as a maid

“Twenty years ago! My abuser and his wife stared into my eyes after beating me while I was naked in their living room, and told me I would never amount to anything. They claimed poverty was in my lineage. Did I give up? Absolutely not,” she wrote.

Uzowulu continued, “They have no idea that I possess immense strength. They remember me as Chinenye Uzowulu, the daughter of a destitute father who was forced to give his child away to work as a maid due to his unfair life circumstances. What they fail to recognize is that my journey is a beautiful one that God safeguarded for me. I’m that girl who rose from poverty. I’m thankful for grace; I do not resemble my past.”

“Awaken me at any hour if it means addressing abuse,” she added, emphasizing her advocacy against such treatment.

This revelation has struck a chord with many, praising her resilience and ability to overcome her past.
