Ifeanyi Eze, a Nigerian man living in the United States, has voiced his frustrations regarding the steep expenses of childbirth in the country.
He took to Facebook to share his experience after being presented with a hospital bill amounting to $23,000 for the delivery of his child.
According to Eze, his insurance had covered a substantial part of the bill, or he would have found himself in a much more distressing situation.
"The hospital presented us with a bill for our baby's delivery. A total of $23,000 for what many consider a straightforward procedure, during a two-day stay," he wrote.
He continued, "When you hear of healthcare workers generating revenue in America, keep in mind that it is ultimately the patients and their insurance companies that bear these costs."
"I am grateful to my insurance for taking care of the largest portion of the bill; otherwise, I would have been crying even more than my newborn baby."
Several images related to his experience were shared alongside his post on social media, underscoring the financial burden many families face during childbirth in the US.
The high costs associated with healthcare in the United States remain a contentious issue, often leaving families questioning the affordability of necessary medical procedures.
