Preye, a Nigerian woman, has expressed that first daughters hailing from underprivileged backgrounds ought to prioritize financial security over romantic love when deciding on marriage partners.
She stated, “As the first daughter from a struggling background, you have no business marrying for love.”
According to her, first daughters are often responsible for the welfare of their siblings, parents, and extended family. She cautioned that entering a marriage without taking stability into account affects not just the individuals involved but also their entire families. Furthermore, she noted that marrying for love is generally a privilege reserved for those who already enjoy a solid support system.
