A Nigerian woman named Precious Ijeoma Ndubuisi has publicly expressed feelings of betrayal by her ex-boyfriend, alleging that he failed to fulfill his promise of marriage after their six-year relationship.
Precious made this revelation in the comments of a post made by a marriage counselor, Nelson Asuen, who had suggested that holding anger towards someone for not marrying after a lengthy relationship is unproductive.
In her statement, Precious mentioned that throughout their six years together, she turned down multiple marriage proposals from other suitors, only for her partner to end their relationship in favor of marrying another woman who was preferred by his family.
In response to her post, Mr. Asuen questioned her judgment in continuing to date someone whose family had openly disapproved of her. He remarked, "Precious, I’m surprised that a man's mother and siblings didn't want you but you still spent 6 years in the relationship. Even if you guys eventually got married, would you be happy in that kind of marriage?"
Images accompanying the article depict Precious and the emotional toll of her experience, highlighting the complexities of relationships impacted by familial expectations.
