Odinakachukwu Uwadiegeu, a woman from Nigeria, has accused the father of her child of committing physical abuse and harassment, asserting that he severely beat and threatened her.
The allegations were made in a Facebook post shared on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in which she described the events that transpired after the man, identified as Uche, visited to see their daughter on March 4.
Uwadiegeu reported that she had left her baby playing on the bed to go upstairs to retrieve an item from a neighbor.
After a brief period, she recalled hearing Uche shouting that the baby was crying and accusing her of abandonment, even going so far as to threaten to slap her.
When she opened the door, he allegedly struck her and began physically assaulting her.
Uwadiegeu claimed he used a kettle to hit her on the head, kicked her multiple times in the stomach, and continued his assault despite attempts from a neighbor to intervene.
She revealed that the violence only ceased when she managed to pull down his shorts.
In her post, she expressed fear for her safety, stating, "If anything happens to me, hold Uche responsible. He has been threatening me, saying that I am poor and no one will come to my aid. Even being a feminist won’t protect me; I am not safe at all."
Elaborating on the incident, she recounted, "On March 4, my baby daddy visited our 10-month-old daughter around 3 PM. Usually, he arrives in the morning. That day, my baby was asleep when he came. I asked him to return or I would take her to his shop and went upstairs."
She further described hearing him yell that she was abandoning their child and his threats escalated to physical confrontation as soon as she opened the door, leading to her hitting her head on the floor.
Witnesses, including a neighbor, attempted to stop him as he continued the assault. Uwadiegeu recounted being pushed across different rooms and receiving blows while trying to retrieve her baby.
She indicated that when violence reached a peak, he ceased his actions only after she pulled down his shorts.
Uwadiegeu mentioned that when confronted by their landlord, Uche claimed he did not know what had come over him.
In her post, she noted that human rights advocates advised her to report him officially by the end of the month, lamenting her struggles since pregnancy due to his behavior.
"I told him long ago that I didn't want to marry him, but he only agreed after the birth of our child. Since that time, he has seemingly been trying to ruin my life. If I weren't strong, I might have been killed by now," she concluded.
