Wikki Tourists have received stern sanctions from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) due to multiple breaches of league regulations during their match against Katsina United this past Sunday.

The NPFL found that the Bauchi-based club failed to ensure adequate security, which permitted unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas within the stadium. This negligence is considered a blatant violation of league rules intended to safeguard players, officials, and the integrity of the match.

Further deterioration occurred during the game, as Wikki fans displayed unsporting conduct that jeopardized the honor of the sport. Incidents included the throwing of hazardous objects, such as stones, onto the pitch, which posed a risk to players from Katsina United and match officials.

Moreover, the NPFL disclosed that Wikki's inability to manage their supporters led to harassment incidents, theft of personal belongings, and injuries to match officials and staff from the visiting team.

In response, the league has enacted a range of financial and sporting penalties, which include:

\- A fine of ₦2 million for failure to ensure sufficient security,

\- ₦1.5 million in compensatory and medical expenses, which includes ₦250,000 for the referee's lost whistle, ₦250,000 for the referee’s medical expenses, and ₦500,000 each for the medical care of an injured staff member and a Katsina United official,

\- ₦1 million for unsporting behavior,

\- ₦1 million for throwing dangerous items onto the field,

\- ₦2 million for detaining match officials and the away team for several hours post-match, alongside causing an 18-minute delay before the game could resume.

Additionally, Wikki Tourists have been barred from hosting home matches in Bauchi and will have to arrange future home games at Jos Stadium indefinitely.

The club is allowed 48 hours from the notification date to formally contest the penalties imposed. This ruling indicates the NPFL's strong commitment to uphold security protocols, professionalism, and matchday conduct amidst rising concerns about fan behavior and security in Nigerian football.
