Semiloore Akerele, a Nigerian psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner residing in the United States, has brought attention to the issue of infidelity among men. She posed a provocative question: have they ever considered extreme measures like amputation to address their cheating tendencies?

Her remarks come in the wake of a shocking incident involving a patient who severed his own penis. According to Akerele, the patient believed that his member was the core reason for his adulterous behavior.

In a Facebook post on March 23, she detailed this experience from her nursing rotation, stating, "During one of my nursing rotations, we had a patient who amputated his own penis… yes, exactly as it sounds. He chopped his peepee."

The nurse explained that after reviewing the patient’s history, it was revealed that he acted out of desperation following a confrontation with his wife over his continuous cheating. He thought that by removing what he perceived as the problem, he would find a solution to his issues.

“When we first received him at the emergency room, our team attempted to reattach the severed organ. However, due to complications, the tissue became gangrenous, leading to a full amputation,” she explained.

“Clearly, significant psychiatric factors were involved in this case,” she noted, urging men who excuse their behaviors as uncontrollable to reflect critically.

"For men who claim they ‘can’t help’ or ‘unintentionally’ cheat, this raises an important question: what does it really mean? Have you considered cutting off the source of the problem?" Akerele concluded, emphasizing the need for deeper introspection concerning infidelity and its roots.
